Let me explain myself, in one simple word - TikTok. TikTok will have you going down rabbit holes you didn't even know existed and what makes it worse is that this book is a sequel to the first.
I knew what I was getting myself into but I don't think I can put into words what I read.
Please bear in mind that I am reviewing this book based on memory. What I believe to have happened is the main character Tem, of which we know is half human, half reptile (I can't remember what she is). She is in-between the king of the reptiles and the soon to be new king of the humans (could just be her island). She was trained by the serpent king on how to be right for the human king - don't ask, anything goes in storytelling.
She finds love with the serpent king, however she is still fond of the human king. She is conflicted on what to do and where her allegiance lies.
This book should have stayed as a standalone. This book goads on and on about how the serpent king should be the one for her but isn't. I'll be honest, WE ALREADY KNEW THAT!
The chemistry Tem has with the human king was off the charts, she was only with the serpent king based off lust, there was zero compatibility.
OMG, I almost forgot about the plot of the serpent king's brother.
I think sometimes I need to know when to close a book and DNF
This book is a 4/10
